CLEAR SWEEP, a sharp factor from the beginning, responded well when set down through the stretch and, disposing of BROWNIE LADY, won going away. The latter began fast, set the pace to the last eighth, but could not hold the winner. OLD RUGGED, away slowly, was hustled to reach serious contention, raced prominently until inside the stretch, then faltered. FENEMOR raced wide through the stretch and could not get to the leaders. HEARTS BUZZ tired during the drive. WELCOME GUEST could not keep up. IN DEEP failed to stay after showing early speed. DOC WOLFE was outrun. CLOUDY DAY showed nothing. ALDENSON was outrun. EMERGENCY FREE moved up fast after the initial quarter mile, took command approaching the stretch and, continuing willingly when set down in the drive, held ZEBINA safe. The latter steadily worked way forward, responded to punishment during the stretch run, but could not overtake the winner. ALL ITS WORTH gave a good effort and had no excuse. MIBELAIRE was outrun. SECRET IMPULSE lacked early foot and was never dangerous. GRAND BABY had no mishap. POLILME showed nothing. DOC LIKENS set the pace for five-eighths mile, then gave way and pulled up lame.
