; | I | | i Porzo, Beech Hill Seek Chagrin Falls at Ascot Get Prep for Rich Gold Cup at Ohio Track Oyer Nine Furlongs By RONALD KRANCER By Staff Correspondent ASCOT PARK, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, May 20. — The Chagrin Falls, at a mile and one-eighth, headlines the program here at Ascot Park tomorrow a small but select field of seven horses have been named overnight to face starter Eddie Anthony several of those accepting the weights are being prepped for the rich Gold Cup to be run on closing day. The field will line-up as follows: Londonderry, Porzo, Bullet Cee, Bill Keefe, Beech Hill. Cortina, and Half Bar. Porzo, owned by Mrs. A. F. Bringhurst and trained by Kenny McLaughlin, leading trainer here at Ascot, may go postward as a slight favorite in the Chagrin Falls. Porzo has won three races thus far at the meeting and his last victory in particular was pleasing to trainer McLaughlin. In that race which was over a mile and one-half Porzo gained the lead on the final bend and then drew clear in late stretch to win by four lengths with jockey Plesa aboard. Beech Hill, a gelded son of High Strung or Kings Blue, will be making his initial appearance over the Ascot track. He has been very consistent all season however winning five of seven starts. He boasts victories at both Tropical Park and Gulf-stream. Beech Hill can run "all day" with two of his tallies scored at a mile and a half. Beech Hill will be ridden by Jimmy Baird who handles the bulk of trainer Jimmy Prices charges. Cortina with jockey Donald Padgett up, scored a victory here on May 16th when at seven furlongs she came from well off the pace to outgame Hundred Proof through late stretch and take a length decision. The daughter of Challenger n. will have her hands full in here, however, but may be the one to upset the top pair. Londonderry won a race early in the year at Hot Springs, but his victories are few and far between. Half Bar is a bad actor at the gate, but may earn a share of the ,200 purse. Bullet Cee has not shown much here at Ascot Park as yet, and Bill Keefe has been disappointing.
