Minento Astride First Winner WHEELING DOWNS, Wheeling, W. Va., May 20. — Apprentice Joseph Minento rode the first winner of his career by guiding R. R. McClarins Lady Cross to an easy victory in the fifth race yesterday. Minento is 19 years of age and hails from Baltimore, Md. His contract is being leased by trainer J. Jacono. The y°ung rider joined the group of riders who volunteered to ride here yesterday after the boys slated to participate in the first race refused to ride their mounts due to the heavy track condition. He joined the small group of riders who can boast they rode their first winner astride a two-year-old.
