Favorites Score at Beulah After Jaynie R. Wins Opener BEULAH PARK, Grove City, Ohio, May 20. — Though the first favorite of the afternoon, Atomic Message, went down at 2 to 5 in the wagering when upset by the outsider, Jaynie R., which paid a lucrative 7.00, favorites surged right back in the following races to the delight of the sunbaked crowd which welcomed the change from the gloom of the past days. The track remained good, but was rapidly drying out. George Manleys Grand Cella started the favorites back to winning when he took the second, under jockey Anthony Franciotti, to return .60 and complete a 22.80 Double with the longshot, Jaynie R., who had captured the first race by a scant neck after coming from far back. William Alexanders Gypsy Blood was backed into favoritism in the third race and justified the confidence by winning the first start of her racing career, under the punishment of W. D. Lucas. Gypsy Blood was kept to her task after sprinting to a long early lead and paid .40 as the second successful choice.
