Yankee Homers Sink Senators, 3 to1 Blows by Collins, Martin and Berra Ed Lopat Shackles Losers With Three Hits to Post Fourth Victory of Season By,NORMAN MILLER United Press Sports Writer NEW YORK, N. Y., May 27.— Lefty Ed Lopat shackled his own cousins, the Washington Senators, with only three hits today while New York Yankees exploded with three home runs for a 3-1 victory. The 34-year-old southpaw yielded a first inning single to Clyde Vollmer, who drove in the Senators only run, a sixth inning single and* ninth inning double to Mickey Vernon as he beat Washington for the eighth straight, time. Lopat has not lost to the Senators since June, 1951. Meanwhile, the Yankees, who had hit only 11 home, runs in 20 previous games this month, Belted Walt Masterson for a trio of homers in the first four innings.
