| t . HBPA, Hollywood Park Officials Meet Tomorrow To Discuss Stakes Increases Announced by Track Recently HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., May 27. — C. Ray Robinson, attorney for the Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Association, and Herbert Freston, attorney for the Hollywood Turf Club, today tentatively arranged for a conference between the horsemen and the track management for Friday to discuss the increases in stake values which the track recently announced and to which the horsemen have objected on the grounds that they do not "help the little man" in racing. The horsemen termed it "cheap publicity," and asked that the money be spread over more races, while Hollywood Park said ; the increases are in line with the tracks ! policy of "better purses for better horses," and also "in balance" with the rest of the , program. . Members of the HBP A met this morning at Millers Restaurant here to discuss the ; 1 matter. At the same time, Ed Friendly resigned ; as chairman of the purse committee with C. Robinson being elected to that chair. Friendly remains on the purse committee [ along with Rex Ellsworth, George Ring, William Black and Robinson.
