Question Five Nips Whence by Nose Becomes Repeater j At Pimlico Meeting Odds-On Favorite, Bovello Victor Alternate in Holding Narrow Lead in Stretch Duel By PALMER HEAGERTY Staff Correspondent . • PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 27.— Anthony P. Bovellos Question Five, who experienced considerable difficulty in graduating from the maiden ranks, made it two consecutive victories at the meeting when he downed a field of non-winners of two in this afternoons featured Huntington Purse. Failed by a slim nose was Ben G. Betner, Jr.s odds-on favorite, Whence, while there was a two-length gap back to Mrs. H. A. Tullers Jan Peeck. With but four days remaining on the local scene, another fair crowd of 11,357 witnessed the days proceedings, with favorite players among them suffering rer peated defeats. Question Five, after covering a mile and a sixteenth in the headliner, returned 2.80. The winning rider was Bobby Mitchell. Never Worse Than Second Question Five, a three-year-old son of Vezzano, was never worse than second in the Huntington, alternating in setting and pressing the pace. The first to challenge and displace Question Five was Bruce Campbells To Challenge. His threat was shortlived, sowever, and he faded to finish sixth, as Ronnie Nash sent Whence after the leader after having been forced to lose ground early. Whence, with Nash applying the whip liberally from the inside, collared the leader entering the stretch and drove to the fore briefly. He lacked the heart of Question Five in the late stages, however, and the Bovello colt again gained the advantage and held sway.
