Press Linksmen Score First Triumph Over Delaware Moguls DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 13. — The third annual golf tournament between the officials at Delaware Park and the press is now a matter of record and for the first time the scribes came out on top. At the Newark Country Club course last evening, the press team won three out of the six matches, with one even. Victors in the match were Palmer Heag-erty of the Morning Telegraph over Al Fahey of the publicity department; Bill Boniface of the Baltimore Sun over Fred Hayden, also of publicity, and Bob Mc- Curley of the Philadelphia Daily News over er Lester Bernd of the film patrol. The officials, designated as the "Brass ss Hats" these many years, came in with visitors in the persons of steward Cal Rainey over Snowden Carter of the Baltimore Sun, and Leo OGrady of the Olympic Parking Service, who beat Muggins Feldman. Announcer Ray Haight and Jock LaBelle, who has charge of the recreation program here, halved their duel. A rematch has been made, but an extra curricular one, the. annual tournament having been decided for the year 1953. Next Thursday, sixteen to eighteen players will meet again, with both sides bringing up reinforcements.
