, Jockeys7 Invitational Day At Cranwood Park Course Six Riders From Other Tracks Accept, With Three More Likely CRANWOOD PARK, Warrens ville Heights, Ohio, June 13. — Monday is Jockeys Invitational Day here at Cranwood and racing fans here in the Cleveland area will be able to see some of the best riders in the country perform. A fine Monday crowd is expected to be in attendance to usher in the second week of racing at this five-furlong course*- The riders who have accepted Cranwoods invitation and will definitely be on hand are Don Scurlock, Hedley Woodhouse, • George Hettinger,, Al Widman, Pete McLean and William Hartack. The following three boys have not as yet accepted, but are strong possibilities, Howard Craig, Carroll Bierman and Nick Shuk. Jockey assignments for the race will not be announced until scratch time on Monday morning. The feature will be run as the sixth on the program and has attracted a well-Balanced field of 11 of which only eight will be permitted to start. The purse for the seven-furlong headliner. will be „ ,500. The riders in the event will be awarded with ,000 in purses, the winning rider to receive ,000; the rider of the place horse, 00, and 50 going to the riders of the others. The field lines up as follows: Hab, Dear Moose, As Ordered, Blazing Silver, Little Father, Jo Joe, Reade Castle, Westward, Pink Gin, Lady Santo, and Great Eagle. William Hartack, currently riding at Waterford Park, was the leading appren- tice at the Maryland tracks this spring and shows great prospects of becoming k one of the good riders in the nation, Hartack is under contract to Norman Cor- • bin at present and broke his maiden at Waterford last fall. Hedley Woodhouse, annually is one of the top riders in the New York sector. Among his victories last season were the Butler, Daingerfield, and Fleetwing Handicaps. His winning mounts totaled a net 07,904 in 1952. Both Al Widman and George Hettinger were riding in New York last season and won their fair share of races.
