4 Name Sixty-Seven For Choice Stakes All LeadingThree-Year-Olds, Native Dancer Excepted, in Monmouths August 1 Stake MONMOUTH PARK, Oceanport, N. J.. June 25. — One of the largest nominating bands in the history of the Choice Stakes, 67 in number, has been made eligible for the August 1 running of the 5,000 added event. Restricted to the three-year-old colony, the shortened distance this year to a mile and one-eighth— a furlong shorter than in previous seasons — was a magnet to draw the cream of the age group, and every top sophomore in training in the East, with the exception of Native Dancer, is in the ranks. The defection of Native Dancer, who has commitments in the Middle West at the time of the Choice running, will actually contribute to a more interesting race. Those who have been vainly chasing him throughout the year will relish an opportunity to win a rich purse without following the Vanderbilt colt, and a large starting field is in prospect, although the Choice remains some weeks away. Jamie K. on Roster The Spring Hill Farms improved Jamie K., who lost a neck verdict to Native Dancer in both the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes and then won the Leonard Richards, is in the race, as are Eugene Con-stantin, Jr.s Royal Bay Gem and Bruce S. Campbells Ram o War, third and fourth in those events. The Boncrist Farms Better Goods, who won last Wednesdays Yankee Handicap at Suffolk Downs, and the Blue Stone Farms Scimitar, recent hero of the Kent at Delaware, are highly regarded possibilities, while the ranks of nominees are studded with the names of other capable three-year-olds.
