TAZEWELL reserved within striking distance of the pace for a half mile, was set up on the outside to reach contention on the final turn, and continued to gain in the straightaway, and outfinished CINDY MORAN. The latter broke alertly, established the pace most of the trip, then drew out along the inside when straightened for the drive, but was not good enough. HAL-FLEAM forced the pace, getting brief command on the final turn, and continued on gamely after giving way. FIRST ONE had no mishap. MR. COVELL rushed boldly in the early stages to near the pace, but raced wide on the final turn and was eliminated. ATHAPASCAN was unable to keep up. The others were outrun. REYNOLDS JR. worked his way up on the outside to near the pace in the final quarter mile, challenged for command near furlong pole and out-finished EAGLE LOOK. The latter swerved "out at the start, was straightened, and worked his way up on the outside to gain command in the stretch and then faltered. PROMPT BOY, steadied close to the pace, moved along inside to vie for command, swerved out in the stretch and weakened. GOOD-SHOPPER rallied near the end and closed ground. SAILING HOME had no mishap. EASTER ISLAND established the pace for a mile before weakening. VERIBEST flattened out after getting the lead. CAMOUFLET was outrun. Scratched— 90604 Benjomike, 113.
