Eight Three-Year-Olds In River Downs Event Forever Talked, Luciete Clash In Six-Furlong Allowance Test By R. E. HURLEY Staff Correspondent RIVER DOWNS, California, Ohio, June 25. — Three-year-olds occupy the limelight at River Downs tomorrow with eight sophomores meeting in a six-furlong allowance sprint. The thoroughbreds will have to vie with a pre-race parade of blooded canines as the Cincinnati Kennel "Club is host organization of the day and annually stages a showing of pedigreed dogs. Forever Talked will be making his first start for owner T. Long, who claimed the Talked About — Hippocrene colt from his last engagement for ,000, in what might be a big bargain for his new owner. Forever Talked just galloped in that race, winning by four and a half lengths while running six furlongs in 1:11%. The colt meets a good band in M. K. Essings Little Bing, E. A. Bischoffs Mels Best, H. H. Prices Brownie Lady, T. J. Middendorfs Tee-Jay-M., J. Madleners Squads Left, W. Alexanders Gyspy Blood and J. T. and W. F. Finns Luciete and has no soft sport in the making.- Luciete is another recent winner who will be carrying a new owners colors for the first time. Luciete won her last six-furlong sprint in 1:11%, only to be sold privately after the race by owner F. A. Simmons. The new owners retained J. T. Simmons .as trainer of the Grandpal — Easter Moss filly so she will probably retain her fine racing edge despite the strange colors. The most important factor in the race will probably be endurance as both Forever Talked and Luciete have plenty of speed which is exactly the forte of Little Bing, Mels Best, Gypsy Blood and Squads Left. The opening half-mile in this race could easily be the crucial one as these speed burners fight for command with the blue ribbon going to the one that has the courage to hang on after laying close to the blistering pace. Mels Best and Gypsy Blood were winners over the River Downs course and* none of the others has shown poorly this season.
