Card Pair of Features at Arlington Van Crosby, Dean Cavy Vie; Hurdle Stakes Attracts Nine blaze,Berseem Among Others In Flat Event; Storm Hour Choice in About 2-Mile Test ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, 111., June 25. — Three-year-olds hold top priority on tomorrows program here, and a field of eight has been named to contest the issue* over the six furlong distance. Topping the list are a pair who distinguished themselves in this area last season, namely Van Crosby and Dean Cavy. The latter took the Joliet Stakes and was second in both the Hyde Park Stakes and the George Woolf Memorial. Van Crosby won the Hawthorne Juvenile Handicap soon after taking the James H. Connors Memorial at Narragansett. Van Crosby* who, during the winter was purchased by the Duntreath Farm for a reported figure of 0,000, has not started this season. Therefore, Dean Cavy is a couple of races up on him. That colt, who is owned by Mrs. E. M. Veeneman, was unplaced in his first start of the year, which was at the Lincoln Fields meeting, but came right back with a smasher in which he trimmed Louis B. Mayers highly regarded Blaze by three lengths in a six-furlong allowance race at the same session. Blaze was odds-on choice in the affair. Blaze is one of those selected to match strides with Van Crosby and Dean Cavy, while the others are Dixianas Berseem, B. W. Landys Red Speed and Power Plant, Mrs. Russel Reinemans Amati and Hard-hack, who was a winner at Lincoln-at-Hawthorne. Amati registered a clever victory at Churchill Downs. The race is named in honor of that fine California-bred, Your Host, now standing" at stud in New Jersey,-and the purse will be ,000. Nine-Race Program Today Due to the fact that the Arlington Park Hurdles Stakes will have its annual running tomorrow, a nine-race program has been rounded out for that day. The Hurdle Stakes has drawn nine veteran leapers and the distance will be about two miles. The horses will be required to clear 10 hurdles and it will be the second jumping contest in nearly 20 years at Arlington. Storm Hour, owned, by Dr. John Youmans, of Nashivlle, Tenn., is expected to be the favorite. He will carry 162 pounds and will be ridden by Mr. A. D. Plambndon m., a Post and Paddock Club member. High-weight of 167 will be carried by Cabot, to be ridden by Richard Gough. Storm Hour won the famed Iroquois Memorial, while. Cabot also has an impressive record, winning two of his last three races and running second in the other. " Jarrin John, winner of the Royalton Steeplechase last week, is expected to attract no little attention, while Rarity, will be ridden by Austin Brown. The latter has been up on~the winner of several stakes the past two years. From Chicago and considered an outsider is Charles Jelkes Ma-mission and Mrs. Charles Jelkes Will Jack. Others well regarded in the hurdle event are Moot, Step Dance and Ginny Bug.
