OFF AT 4:42 EASTERN STANDARD TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. RUSHING took command soon after the start, entered the stretch with a good lead, but was briskly handled during the drive to retain a clear margin over ATTENTION MAC. The latter, in hand to the stretch, closed gamely when sent up next to the inner rail for the drive, but could not reach the top one. WHISKEY JOHN, a sharp factor from the start, raced evenly and had no excuse. TORRENT lacked early speed, but finished fairly well under punishment. SLAMARANTH failed to rally when set down through the stretch. WEE HASH was outrun. BUONGIORNO was never dangerous. MULEY showed nothing. JUST-MADE-IT was far back the entire trip. OFF AT 5:08 EASTERN STANDARD TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. DEEP BLUE alternated with BATTLE HERO setting the pace in the first half mile, took command nearing the stretch and held THISTLE WAR safe when set down in the drive. THISTLE WAR, reserved to the last quarter mile, drifted out at the final turn, closed fast when straightened for the drive, but could not get to the winner, although much the best of the others. PAPA FELIX raced evenly and forwardly placed to the stretch, then weakened. GOLDEN PELT was outrun. HELWAN made a bold bid nearing the stretch, bothered IRRITATE after tiring during the drive and failed to stay. IRRITATE appeared beaten when he suffered mild interference from HELWAN during the stretch run. BATTLE HERO quit after engaging DEEP BLUE for a half mile. Helwan claimed by H. West. JUDGE LANE, never far back, took command from FAIR PILOT after entering the stretch and drew clear under brisk handling. FAIR PILOT went to the front early, set the pace until inside the stretch, then was unable to stay with the winner. FLY LELIA saved ground throughout her good effort. VIE raced well and had no excuse. CRACKLETTE was outrun. DR. ALEX, forced to take up sharply when caught in close quarters after the start, failed to recover. WISE PIPPIN showed nothing. GOLDEN TREND, well ridden, took command at once, set the pace to the stretch under occasional urging, responded readily when set down for the drive and lasted to withstand SHAG TAILS. The latter, a keen factor from the outset, closed gamely under strong handling but could not overtake the winner, just missing. SECOND AVENUE saved ground the entire trip, but could not reach the top pair when set down through the stretch. LITTLE DONOR, on the outside throughout, faltered during the last eighth mile. THE GINK was outrun and had no mishap. ETELKA began sluggishly. SONIC could not keep up after showing early speed. LIGHT MOON showed nothing. MAD HARE raced wide throughout, losing all chance. The latter, a keen factor from the beginning, responded readily when set down through the stretch, but could not overtake the winner, although much the best of the others. BELLANOCH failed to tally when set down for the drive and a foul claim against the winner by her rider was "not allowed by the stewards. STEPENMATE drifted out entering the stretch and could not better his position when straightened for the drive. BOLTON could not keep up. EAST HILL went to the front early, set the pace to the stretch, then weakened. PREACHER was never dangerous. THANK YOU SIR sulked during the early furlongs and was far back the entire trip.
