The latter raced REMISSION into defeat inside the stretch, but drifted out slightly -during the lat stages and was unable to cope with the winner. DIAVOLEZZA, slow to gain best str.de, closed fastest S al ina sharp effort. REMISSION displayed excellent speed to the furlon? , marker , then gave way suddenly MICHIKEE faltered when punished. HULL BLACK was outrun, as was DEDUCTIBLE YOU. STAR MARQUE raced wide. LEES UNKNOWN was blocked at the head of the stretch and failed to recover. SHEER MADNESS and the others were never prominent. COUP-DE-VITE, "splendidly ridden, forged between horses to attain a commanding position on the far turn, came fast when shaken for the stretch run and outgamed ESCARP in the concluding strides. The latter jumped cleverly while dominating the early running, drifted out slightly while tiring after making the final jump and was unable to hold the winner. BLUE PLATE, always within striking distance, closed with good energy. SWORDET, much used early, failed to respond when set down for the drive. CAVALRY CHARGE and REWING were outrun. TROUT BROOK quit. ARTJSMO raced in closest pursuit of SIR BOSS to the final turn, cutharply to the rail when sent to the front nearing the furlong marker and steadily increased his advantage thereafter to win as if much the best SIR BOSS outsprinted his rivals into the first turn to assume a clear early lead, faltered, when challenged and, though no match for the winner, held on determinedly to prevail over QUICK LUNCH. The latter, never far back, failed to -respond when set down for the final test WISE POP, forced to take up sharply when in close quarters on the far turn, recovered gamely, but lacked the necessary rally. WAR DOINGS lugged in mildly during the drive and closed too belatedly to become an endangering factor. DONNAJACK was bumped slightly while racing on the outside of the leaders at the half-mile marker and tired thereafter. PERMIAN bore out when punished during the stretch run. KOPES BABY began sluggishly. BUSHERS BEAM, shuffled back after the start, faBed to enter serions contention.
