. ; i NameThistleDown Route Series After Ohio-Born Presidents THISTLEDOWN, Warrensville, Ohio., Aug. 22. Racing secretary Tred Burton has come along with a novel idea in the naming of his series of distance races to be staged at ThistleDown this fall. Ohio is currently celebrating its sesqui-centennial and has sent many presidents to the White House. Burtons series will be known as the Ohio Presidents Series. The first, which will be run on September 16, will be known as the TJ. S. Grant Handicap, and that will be followed in order by the Rutherford B. Hayes, James Garfield, William McKinley, and the William Howard Taf t. Purses for the Presidents Series start at ,000 and graduate with the distance to ,000. There will also be a trainers award, , The trainer, whose horse compiles the most points, will receive ,000. The series must ; be completed, however, to become eligible i for the latter award.
