Filly Grass Stake At Atlantic City 0,000 Added Miss America To Engage Canadiana, Judy Dunstan, Others Oyer Mile ATLANTIC CITY, Mays Landing, N. J., g Aug. 22. The 0,000 added Miss America Turf Stakes, the only grass race in the country designed exclusively for three- year-old fillies, features the thoroughbred sport during the coming week at the At- ; lantic City Racing Associations well-ap- 2 pointed track. The inaugural running of . this one mile infield event will be offered -as the headliner on next Saturdays pro- 5 gram and 33 members of the distaff division have been made eligible. Most prominent nominee, and considered ; a certain starter after having arrived here , this morning, is Edward P. Taylors Cana- dian-bred Canadiana, a homebred daughter t of Chop Chop Iribelle. She already has j accounted for the Queens Plate at Wood- . bine and the Test at Saratoga and will be , endeavoring to round out a stakes triple. In her most recent engagement she was m second to Belairs Sabette in the nine-fur- j long Diana Handicap, in which she was in t front through the first mile. Foremost of her probable rivals in the Miss America include Alfred G. Vanderbilts Home-Made, Ogden Phipps Flirtatious, Brookmeade Stables Tritium, Circle M Farms Revolve and. Herman B. Delmans Judy Dunstan. Of the group, only the last-named lassie is currently on the grounds, and she was a winner over Will B There in her last start. She probably will tangle with William M. Wickhams fleet filly Again in the Week-end offering. James M. Grieves Miss Joanne, a daughter of Challenge Me, has taken up local quarters after having won the White Mountain Handicap at Rockingham Park and the invader shapes up as a strong contender. The same can be said of Cary Boshamers Late Model, who was second behind Halter at seven furlongs here when that veteran established the track record of 1:23, which has since been equaled by Atalanta. Other locally campaigned fillies who have raced well are George A. Garretts Little Flirt H., C. Ewing Tuttles Amphispirit, Darby Dan Farms Fourdees, Tom Con-chranes Stepper Upper and Ridge Stables Slave Girl. That the fixtures to be contested over the turf course would attract an abundance of starters was assured recently when 20 entrants appeared for the Boardwalk Handicap, Which was run in two divisions. While the Miss America-seems unlikely to lure a field of that number, it seems a certainty that a keen contest will develop.
