Harness Racing Scene Shifts to Maywood Park Monday Night MAYWOOD PARK, Maywood, 111., Aug. 22. The Fox Valley Trotting Club, starting its second season at Maywood Park, unfolds a 60-night season with the presentation of Monday nights grand opening. President William V. "Jake" Ward and general manager Erwin Dygert expressed optimism that the upward trend of .pari-mutuel play will continue through their meeting. Idlemore, who won three races at Maywood in the spring, including a 2:06 mile, heads a field which includes Trusty Key, Frisco Cash, Josedale Double Hal, Guy Radium and the brilliant three-year-old filly, Miss Abbe Cash. N Top.reinsmen from the Sportsmans Park meeting, including leading driver Dee Stover and runners-up Howard Beissinger and Billy Rouse, have shifted to Maywood, but will get a stern challenge in the forthcoming race from Harry Burright, who makes winning a habit in the Chicago area. From 1946 through 1951 he was top driver at eight of 15 meetings in which he competed. He was second in five others. Last year Fox Valley distributed 47,745 in purses, and it is very likely that this meeting will top that figure. Supporting a strong program of overnight races are the Great Midwest Trot and the Great Midwest Pace, each .worth approximately 0,000. Several Illinois colt stakes and invitational exchange races with Wolvertine Raceway, Detroit, Mich., will highlight racing secretary Ted Leonards programs. On Wednesday night the first major stake race, the Great Midwest Trot, will send to the starting gate eight sleek three-year-olds headed by Jochovolo, winner of 21 out of 25 "races for owner Herman Graham. E. C. Moriarty, Wichita, Kansas, has an entry of Scotch Lass and General Thomasie slated for the race, and Jerry Neikirk has Maximillian, winner of five races in nine starts, groomed for the event. Approximately 800 horses quartered at Maywood and Aurora will be available for the meeting. Among the top pacers will be Irish Hal, winner of the 0,000 Sportsmans Park Invitational Pace; Gene Hayes, H. D. Hanover, Sheldon Pointer, Tempered Volo, Miss Mamie, My Volo, Dale Wingay and Miss Shine A Mite. Top trotters will include Cliffwin, Earls Pied Piper, Shorty Du Ponti, Poplar Perry, Malcom, Royal Vickie, Little Steve, Volora and Co-op Scot.
