Gayilan, Basilio in Title Bout SYRACUSE, N. Y., Aug. 22 UP . Kid Gavilan of Cuba signed today to defend his world welterweight championship against Carmen Basilio of Canastota, N. Y in a 15-round bout at Syracuse, Sept. 18. Both fighters agreed that the winner will defend the 147-pound crown against Johnny Brat-ton of Chicago within 60 days on a date and site to be determined later.
