RACE TANDEM disposed of ERRARD BEAU to attain a clear lead, was no match for the winner, but held on gamely to save a dead-heat with GRAY RAIDER. The latter, after being slow to settle into stride, improved his position nicely to get on even terms with RACE TANDEM. MAUO was closer than usual early, but lacked a response when urged. FOUR JACKS weakened after being a contender. TACARO was never formidable. ROSE POLL failed to attain prominence. LAMMEGO faltered badly in the final furlong after having attained command briefly. DUCHESS AUMAR reached the leader turning into the stretch and drifted out badly, SPRING FROLIC quit. MISS TAFFY dwelt at the start. MENAWA was much used in attaining command and quit. FURRY FRIEND retained his position along the inside to show in front early, but failed to carry his speefl. NULLIFY failed to -attain prominence. MOHAMMEDAN caused crowding while drifting out early, held a forward position to the final turn and faltered. BLUE RHYMER flattened cut after having been responsible for the pace. BOBS ALIBI wrested command and drew clear on the final turn, held a four-length lead entering the stretch and, when struck with the whip went through the inner hedge approaching the furlong pole.
