MISS MELISS improved position gradually on the outside, came in between horses in the stretch, bore in slightly and drew out at the end. SCOUR, in hand when unable to go with the pace, came through along the inside, was vying for the lead when bothered by the winner, recovered quickly, but was not good enough. The stewards flashed the inquiry sign and, after viewing the pictures, disqualified MISS MELISS and placed her second. GOTTADANCE, forwardly placed from the start, rallied to take the lead in the stretch and faltered. SWEEP LADY finished on the outside with a belated rush. MAGIC MOMENT sprinted into a commanding lead at once, held sway until the stretch, weakened and drifted out. WILLOW WARE, slow to start, saved ground to no avail. BALTIMORE JIM, eased back to the outside, came through along the inside in the stretch and closed with good energy. CONCENTRATE finished with a belated rush on the outside. ELISANN weakened. BOBS PAL, a forward factor, lacked a late rally. JOES GAL moved into contention early and weakened in the late stages. ANDANTINO went evenly. ICE CAP flattened out after losing the lead. The latter, a forward factor from the outset, challenged -and assumed command inside the final furlong and just missed. JOHN WILLIE showed good speed throughout and held on tenaciously. WAL-DOT-O, quickest to begin, remained close up and held on gamely in the drive. ARTHUR S., in between horses on the outside, was unable to threaten with a late rally. LASSIE LEA broke sluggishly, forced her way between horses to assume an early lead, set the pace, to the final turn and weakened. MEL LEAVITT, slow to begin, closed stoutly along the inside but lacked racing room. FIRST BALLOT had brief speed and stopped. The others were outrun.
