THE PHEASANT roused repeatedly after three furlongs, was forced to take the extreme outside losing ground and was along in the final yards to forge to the front IM FRED broke alertly, dropped back and was outrun until the final furlong, then closed stoutly in between horses. KENTUCKY HOME rallied when set down and was pressing. TEXAS RAIN ranged up on the outside to vie for command and faltered. FIGHTING THRU assumed a short lead soon after the start and held on stubbornly. KLIMIE weakened after forcing the pace most of the trip. VICKI DIANA showed a good effort. CLAIRE DAUBER stopped. COPIER rushed up along the inside to near the leader before a quarter mile, raced wide on the final turn while vying for command and lasted, over the challenge of SICKLE SUE. The latter, steadied close to the pace, came between horses at the end and just missed. TABARINA, outrun to the final furlong, moved outside of horses and just missed. PRINCESS BLY, sluggish in the early stages, was going stoutest of all at the end. ODDS ADVANCE weakened inside the final sixteenth. ARI GOLD rallied to challenge for the lead jn the late stages and faltered. SO SURPRISED failed to respond when put to stout pressure. GOTTADANCE had no mishap. CARESS weakened in the final furlong. LARRY ELLIS, unhurried while allowed to settle into best stride, began moving closer to the pace after five furlongs, moved to the outside on the final turn, responded when roused and was along under steady urging to draw clear near the end. WISE MARGIN, close up and under stout restraint to the final quarter mile, rallied under a steady hand ride and showed a good effort. FUTURESQUE was sent to the front soon after the start, dominated the pace under light urging and held on gamely when surrendering the lead. ROEDNA dropped far off the early pace, was roused after six furlongs and was steadily making up ground in the late stages. SMART CHOICE went up to vie for the lead after six furlongs, failed to stay with the pace and retired in the final furlong. SPY RING was outrun. QUARTERMASTER showed brief speed and weakened. STEPENMATE, reserved slightly off the pace moved readily when sent up on the outside, assumed command inside the final furlong and drew out. TO THE FRONT assumed command soon after the start, was kept along the inside and under light restraint while dominating the pace, responded to late pressure but was not able to match strides with the winner.
