TERELL assumed command with a rush nearing the furlong marker and retained a clear advantage thereafter under intermittent pressure. WEE BERN, always within striking distance, was unable to overtake the winner during the drive, but easily prevailed over the others. LONG LAKE displayed good early speed, but failed to sufficiently respond when the real test came. BURNING BLUE lacked the necessary rally. GIBSON had no apparent mishap. YOU tired when punished. DREAM WORLD was in slightly close quarters during the late stages. CHALLFROST raced evenly through .the stretch. RIFFLE and PHILDO lacked early foot. PIEDMONT BELLE and FACET both failed to stay. AMZY made the pace to the stretch under steady rating, weakened slightly during the late stages; but lasted to prevail over SILURIAN. The latter moved up boldly on the outside leaving the. final turn, responded to brisk urging during the drive and gradually was getting to the top one. LADYS NIGHT began tardily, worked her way forward on the outside to the stretch and, a"fter attaining a contending position, tired as a result of her early effort. BOLD IMP, much used early, had little left. SUPERUPPER was unable to keep up. PRISSY MISSY was outrun. BLUE EYES showed brief speed, then faltered. JET FLASH was sluggish during the early running. HYVANIA, a sharp factor from the beginning, disposed of ETERNAL SON when ready during the run down the backstretch, retained a commanding advantage approaching the final hedge, then in a long drive held WILLIAMSBURG safe. The latter, permitted to settle into best stride, moved up menacingly entering the stretch, but was unable to reach the leader when placed to stern punishment. CORINTHIAN, sluggish early, was sent into closer contention after completing the third jump, tired when the real test came and was no match for the top ones. ETERNAL SON tired. SPLEEN was always outdistanced. ALLFLOR was through early and came back lame. STEP DANCE was not unduly persevered with when hopelssly beaten. Overweight Corinthian, 1 pound. HEED ME, reserved within striking distance of the early leaders, came fast when shaken for the drive and, after taking command, retained a safe margin over SEVEN SPADES. The latter raced in closest pursuit of SUGAR DAD for a half mile, drifted out slightly entering the stretch, then was unable to overtake the winner when hard hustled through the late stages. SUGAR DAD held sway to the furlong marker under hustling tactics, but shortened stride when placed to stem pressure. STRIKING HOUR, sent into closer contention leaving the final turn, was guided to the inside for the drive, but was not good enough. MILL NECK raced wide. RELIC PINES was outrun. WHIFFS raced forwardly between horses to the furlong marker, faltered when roused and was unable to cope with the winner HOPLITE held sway for six furlongs while saving ground next to the inner rail, gave way to the winner entering the stretch and continued to tire when urged through the final furlong. A claim of foul against the winner by the rider of SUMMER TAN for alleged interference at the furlorjg marker was not allowed. SUMMER TAN, shuffled back slightly at the start, recovered steadily to reach the lead entering the stretch, faltered thereafter and though unable to cope with the winner easily bested the others. LAUGH, forwardly placed early, failed to respond when shaken for the final test. GOLD BOX had no apparent mishap. SOUND BARRIER retired steadily from a rapid start.
