Cup Nominations Close May 22 Nominations for the Hawthorne Gold Cup will close Saturday, May 22. Carey announced that prize money would be distributed among the first five finishers in the Gold Cup, a practice inaugurated last year. Under this arrangement, there will be 0,000 for the second-place finisher, 0,000 to the third, ,000 to the fourth and ,500 to the fifth-place horse. The other Hawthorne fixtures include the 0,000-added C. W.
