Mid Century and Jockey Keene Account For Endurance No. 2 Runner-Up in Last Weeks t Sportsmans Feature Whips Our Kite and Teddys Heir BY J. J. MURPHY SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 12. Mid Century, a foUr-year-old representing the Emerald Isle Hotel Stable and ridden by jockey Harold Keene, turned the tables on Mr. Dink, who defeated him in the Endurance Handicap No. 1 one week ago, when he won Endurance Handicap No. 2, feature race here today. The distance was one and one-eighth miles, a half furlong longer than the previous event, and the best Mr. Dink, the favorite, could do was be fourth. Our Kite took second place, and Teddys Heir was third. The winner paid 0.80 and his time was 1:53. Seven Starters A field of seven route runners was engaged in todays affair, and Teddys Heir set the early pace, closely followed by Our Kite. After going about five furlongs Our Kite forged into a short lead, with Mid Century being rated in fourth and then third place, and Mr. Dink some distance removed and going rather wide. Nearing the stretch turn Mid Century caught Our Kite to take command and once in the van went about his business to score by four lengths. Our Kite held on well to be second, and while Mr. Dink closed some ground, he failed to threaten. The Endurance No. 2 was for a ,500 purse, with ,575 going to the winner, who accounted for jockey Keenes second success of the day. She tired, but had enough left to score by a head from Third Lady, who came from last place to be second. A favorite and a second choice were the respective winners of the first and second races and the Daiiy Double paid 2.00. Lady Ridgewell, winner of the opener, was an odds-on choice and was in close quarters early but jockey Don Wagner eased her back and to the outside as she won by five lengths.
