Hollywood Starlet Stakes Draws 149 Nominations Climactic Two-Year-Old Event To Decide Wests Championship HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., May 12. Hollywood Parks 0,000-added Starlet Stakes, richest two-year-old race in the West, has drawn 149 nominations which include some of the best juvenile prospects in the country, vice-president and general manager James D. Stewart announced today. During the 50-day season opening Friday, Hollywood Park will stage the biggest two-year-old stakes program ever presented at one race meeting, with 10 stakes totalling 15,000 added on the schedule for the youngsters. This accounts for the unusual interest shown by horsemen and the racing public in the Starlet, which climaxes the two-year-old program by deciding the championship in this age division during the last week of the meeting on July 22, he added. Calumet Farm, long time producer of champions, leads off the Starlet roster with eight nominations, headed by Trentonian. This son of Bull Lea, who sired two Hollywood Gold Cup champions in Citation and Two Lea, recently showed possibilities of future greatness when he set a five-furlong track record of :58 seconds in his first start a Bay Meadows. Calumet has named four sons of Bull Lea and three of Alibhai to the race.
