Bogus Fighters Pilot Released on 00 Bond Hearings on Charges Against Riley to Be Held on June 15 By the United Press A municipal court judge yesterday set June 15 for next hearings in the case of James Riley, Detroit fight manager charged with misrepresentation in his application for a license of a fighter who was a ringer. Judge Oscar S. Caplan set bond at 00 and released Riley. The hearing in June will be on a motion by Rileys attorney to quash the charge against Riley. About six weeks ago a fighter advertised as Paul Holman lost in a one-round technical kayo to Dick Gerber at Rainbo Arena. Later the Illinois Athletic Commission found the real Holman, a Massachusetts fighter, was in military service. The man who fought as Holman here was suspended, in the name of "John Doe." I Riley said at the time he had been duped, but under questioning by the Illinois attorney generals office Tuesday afternoon admitted that he had been convicted of felonies in Detroit; It was then that the commission conferred with the states attorneys office, and the misrepresentation charge, a misdemeanor, was lodged. Commissioner Lou Radzienda said today the state , group is "not going to tolerate this type of business." He said the transcript of the two commission hearings which Riley attended will be examined closely to see if any further grounds for legal action exists. Radzienda said he also was going to at-tenc an executive meeting of the National Boxing Association at Detroit, and would apprise persons there of the Riley affair. He said he would tell them that promoters could be of "great help" in guard-iing against a recurrence anywhere of this type of case by making sure they do busi-I ness either with known, qualified man-I agers of fighters of with the fighters them- selves, in case no manager exists. Radzienda advised promoters against doing business with "silent partners" or "agents" of managers, and said the only ones who could help are the promoters themselves. . f "
