Territory Puts Three-Race Victory Skein on Line in Catonsville Purse Hallowell Colorbearer Vies With Rustic Billy, Ladd and Two Others at Pimlico Today PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 12. R. W. Hallowells Territory puts a three-race victory skein on the line Thursday afternoon when he takes on a small band of three-year-olds in the featured Catonsville Purse. Rounding out the field for the mile and one-sixteenth test are Mrs. James V. Stewarts Rustic Billy, Jouett Shouses Ladd, Edward M. OHerrons Mike OUer-ron and Llangolen Farms Get Lost. Territory went into the Bowie meeting as a maiden and was unbeaten in three appearances, winning twice at seven furlongs and once at six furlongs. His most recent score found him beating Varsity and Fays Reaper in 1:24 for seven panels. The additional distance of the Catonsville should favor the Contest colt, for he has charged from off the pace in the majority of his. races. Rustic Billy, a five-time winner last season, hasnt won in three starts this spring but his races have been excellent. He was third behind I Appeal in his seasonal bow, then was second to Woodlands and second behind Staffordshire in over the Bowie oval. The Cassis gelding will be making his first attempt of the year to get a mile and a sixteenth, a distance he handled will last fall as a juvenile, when he was beaten less than five lengths in the Bowie Endurance after having finished second to as good a filly as Gweny G. Ladd, winner of a division of a Maryland-bred stake last year at two, has a 54 record similar to that of Rustic Billy, though not quite as impressive. The High Lea gelding was second and third in his first two outings, then was slightly more than five lengths behind Woodlands, Rustic Billy and others over a slow strip. Mike OHerron was third to Territory earlier in the Maryland season, then was sent to New Jersey where he downed a fair field at six furlongs while carrying a ,000 claiming tag. The gelded son of Tailspin had little trouble in handling Immense, Helfast and others over a muddy track in 1:13. Get Lost scored his lone Maryland victory over ,000 claimers but has improved greatly since that time. He was second behind Thither and Staffordshire on different occasions and in his last start was fifth behind the latter in 1:11. The distance should not prove difficult for the Endeavour n. colt.
