Fisherman, Goyamo Drill at Belmont Expect Both Colts To Seek Preakness High Gun, Palm Tree Timed In Preps for Pimlico Stake; Permian Flashes Good Speed BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., May J.2. A couple of Preakness candidates occupied the attention of the work-watchers on the main course at Belmont Park this morning. C. V. Whitneys Fisherman and Goyamo, who is owned in partnership by Mrs. W; Alton Jones and the estate of Royce C. Martin, breezed six furlongs in. acceptable style. Fisherman, who finished seventh in the Derby last but, was clocked in 1:14, while Goyamo, who was fourth in the Churchill Downs classic, was timed in 1:15. Neither colt was asked for any real speed. Another local thoroughbred whose next major engagement is at Pimlico, King Ranchs Riverina, breezed a slow three-quarters in 1:17. Riverina is a candidate for Saturdays Black-Eyed Susan Stakes for three-year-old fillies. The same stables High Gun, who is also a Preakness eligible, went a handy six furlongs in 1:15. Greentree Stables Palm Tree, who finished behind High Gun in the Withers after beating him in an overnight mile and a furlongj went five furlongs in 1:03. He, too, is eligible to the Preakness. Tortilla Breezes Three Furlongs William Zieglers Tortilla, a useful speedster who gets in the Metropolitan Mile with a feathery 100 pounds, breezed three furlongs in :36. He is entered in tomorrows race, coupled with Expletive, which is a more likely engagement. C. T. Chenerys Permian, who finished a rather unlucky second to Catspaw here last week, flashed speed this morning, going a half in :47, while Woodley Lane Farms three-year-old, Red Hannigan, breezed in :48. Walter M. Jeffords Subahdar, a four-year-old who caused a great impression in one race at Hialeah two winters before, then suffered a broken bone in his foot, continues to train well for what may be an interesting comeback. The latest move was an easy half in :49 this morning. Another on the comeback trail is Mrs. Ben F. Whitakers Tahitian King, who was clocked in :49 this morning. Arnold Hangers Iceberg TX, who ranks near the top of the handicap division both on grass and skinned tracks when at his best, breezed five furlongs in 1:03. Alfred G. Vanderbilts Find, who is eligible to the Metropolitan in which he could be a running mate for Native Dancer, but is also in the Thomas J. Healey Handicap at Garden State the following Saturday, went a handy mile in 1:39. . Cain Hoy Stables promising three-year-old filly, Cherokee Rose, who injured herself when stumbling and losing Henry Moreno at the start of a race at Keene-land on April 20, went a handy six furlongs in 1:17 on the deep training track this morning. The move merely signaled the return to active training of the sister to the Coaching Club American Oaks winner, How. Cherokee Rose is also eligible to this event on May 29.
