PARTY KING, taking the. lead at once and lightly rated while setting the pace, raced his opposition into defeat and had something left. MENTAL GYMNAST was never too far away and made a bold try in the run home, but was not good enough. MYSTIC CHIEF was outrun to the stretch, then came steadily. ALHAMPERED closed some ground. EIGHTY-EIGHT tired. JIMS TOWN was under restraint while racing rather wide and closed up in the first five furlongs, then tired. NITRO FIRE was badly outrun. Overweight Eighty-Eight, 2 pounds. LA BREEZE got through on the inside after going five furlongs and, moving to catch CLEETSIE on the stretch turn, edged into a short lead and was not fully extended in the closing stages. CLEETSIE shoved good speed in setting the pace, withstood early challenges to pull out on the backstretch, then saved ground to hold on fairly well. STAGGERING IN finished steadily. THUMB ROCK was rushed up onihe outside of a couple of horses after going three furlongs, .lost ground most of .the way and had little left at the finish. SMARTY JACOPO was unable to keep up. PRY PAT had some early speed. The others were outpaced. Overweight Cleetsie, 2 pounds; Staggering In, 2; Not Rushin, 2. Cleetsie claimed by E. K. Carey.
