SIR RARCO was well ridden and reserved off the early pace, closed willingly for the drive and, while drifting to the inside, won going away. RIDDLETON improved his position racing next to the rail and finished gamely. AT FORTY was a sharp contender, but was weakening when slightly crowded by the winner entering the last furlong. POSSUM was rated setting the pace and faltered when called upon. CHIEF LOCO saved ground in a late rally. GINGER D lost considerable ground on the turn. WARDRIL, never far back, wore down SAILS under steady pressure and, drawing safely clear in the last furlong, was taken in for the finish. SAILS was under steady pumping setting the pace, suddenly weakened when headed by the winner and just lasted over. BAMBOO. The latter worked forwardly placed between horses and closed determinedly in company with SOAKIN WET through the stretch drive. SOAKIN WET raced on the outside and finished gamely. CUTTING EDGE improved position to loom a threat on the turn, but came wide into the stretch and weakened. LIVELY JEEP faltered. SCOTCH BIM was outrun. APSLEY dropped back gradually. NEW HAVEN gradually wore down SOLOR BID and, taking command in the early stretch, steadily drew out. PORT WINDSOR was rated outside the ultimate winner, then failed to respond for the drive, but continued well to outfinish SOLAR BID. The latter was under light pressure setting the pace and weakened after six furlongs. HARANGUE raced prominently placed and hung, as if short. BILLIES BEAM was taken up at the start. ADMIRAL VEE, briskly urged to wear down BILL 1 STOUT on the turn, was given, a slight breather after taking command in the stretch and came again when punished to be? BISCAYNE BAY. The latter raced over to the rail on the final turn, made a rush into command and appeared ready to draw away in midstretch, but hung when punished. WINDSOR KING had no excuse. FLARESPUR was not a serious threat BILL STOUT had speed to the stretch and quit when challenged. BOLO FLYER was dropped back when crowded midway the turn. BAKERSFIELD, lightly urged to remain with his rivals while racing on the outside, moved to the front in company with CANDLE WOOD and bested that one in the stretch drive. CANDLE WOOD raced between horses, rallied with BAKERSFIELD and fought it out gamely into the last twenty yards, then weakened. SETUBAL was running strongly next to the rail when caught in a blind switch behind RATES BEST and had to be taken back from the five-sixteenths until inside the quarter-pole, then had no chance to threaten. RATES BEST held a clear lead into the turn and faltered. ELLIOT L. was outrun. An inquiry into the running was held by the stewards, but no action was taken. Scratched 15567 Red Wine II., 114. SEARSIE, lacking early speed and losing considerable ground racing around horses, closed resolutely in the last three-sixteenths and was up in the final stride to best MISS BENZ. The latter, hustled to the front on the first turn, raced along freely in front and, after repulsing a challenge under punishment, just failed last VALLEY KING, under steady pressure, could not keep up rounding the final turn, but was coming again at the end. DAPPER raced through on the final turn and was coming again at the end. ATOM AGE was outrun. MEKTOUB made a strong bid on the stretch turn, but faltered. SEA TALE was not a factor.
