THE SPANIEL, well ridden and steadied closest to the .pace, wore down ABBEZAC to take command on the stretch turn and increased the advantage under intermittent punishment. ABBEZAC, quickly opened a commanding lead, was snugly rated until challenged, then held on under steady pressure to outfinish SKY COMMAND. The latter was occasionally shaken up in the running, made a mild bid in the early stretch, but bowed to ABBEZAC when he lugged in and had to be steadied near the end. MY GEORGE gradually weakened. NIGHT OFF never was far back and, under strong punishment, bested BOBS BOOTS. The latter saved ground steadily improving position, then drifted very wide when punished for the drive. ROYAL FREEDOM drifted out when put to pressure. HIGH BELLE quit. LADY ROUNDERS was taken back and to the outside in the run around the first turn. LEES BABY was outrun.
