i | ! j Eight Stakes Programmed I, For Meeting at Pomona 14-Day Los Angeles County Fair Session to Distribute 00,000 POMONA, Calif., May 13. — With the. B i 0,000 added Pomona Handicap at a l/a] miles heading an impressive array of eight j stakes, the Los Angeles County Fair will distribute in excess of 00,000 to horsemen during the 14-day meeting opening September 18 and continuing through October 3, it was announced here today by C. B. Afflerbaugh, president-manager of the fair. Both the California Horse Racing Board and the horsemen have ratified the program, which, in addition to 5,000 in stakes, calls for a minimum purse of ,700 for all thoroughbred racing. Past experi-1 ence dictates that relatively few purses will be less than ,000, thus elevating Pomona racing to an identical status with that staged at Bay Meadows, Tanforan or Golden Gate Fields in Northern California. Following is the stakes program for the j thoroughbreds: I September 18 — Inaugural Handicap, ,000 added, three-year-olds, about 6 furlongs Pomona course. I September 19 — Governors Cup, 0,000 added, three-year-olds and upward, about 6 furlongs Pomona course . i September 26 — Citrus Belt Stakes, ,500 1 added, two-year-olds, about 6 furlongs I Pomona course. | September 26 — Los Angeles County Fair Handicap, 0,000 added, three year-olds 1 and upward, 1 1-16 miles. September 29 — Las Madricas Handicap, ,000 added, three-year-olds and upward, fillies and mares, 1 1-16 miles. September 30 — Pomona Derby, ,000 added, three-year-olds, 1 1-16 miles.
