IRISH EYES took command from GLAD NEWS in the early stretch and, responding to urging, held GAY RIG safe. The latter raced well from the outset but was not good enough for the winner. SUNSET GLOW lacked early foot but finished strongly in the middle of the track. SWEET TERRI saved ground entering the stretch but was unable to better her position during the drive. INA BATTLE had no mishap. GLAD NEWS made the pace to the stretch but gave way when challenged by IRISH EYES. APPLE SPY, outrun early, could not threaten the leaders. CHIRICAHUA tired. WHITE CLARET, away fast, settled into the stretch with a good lead but was briskly handled during the drive to withstand PERSIAN MISS. The latter raced evenly to the stretch and finished fast but could not overtake the winner. LITTLE BOO BOO gave a good performance and had no excuse, CHAMPAGNE MISS raced evenly without mishap. CLARA MAROT lacked early foot. LIKE THUNDER tired. RUTHIE DEAR broke slowly and raced greenly. TROPICAL ISLE, on the outside to the stretch, failed to stay. PELF could not keep up. WALRUS, taken in hand and reserved after the fifth hedge, moved up boldly at the ninth and, clearing the final brush, was under mild urging during the flat run to overtake his entry-mat?, PUNCTUALITY. The latter fenced willingly until reaching the seventh, made a bad landing and, after nearly losing his rider, recovered and retained command to the twelfth jump, then was unable to hold WALRUS during the flat run. DUC DE RICHMOND made a bad landing at the eleventh brush and could not threaten the leaders when back on stride. ROTAL jumped steadily throughout but tired during the flat run. ROMEO bobbled at the initial fence and was unable to enter serious contention. BALLYBRITTAS pecked at the eighth hedge and dropped back steadily thereafter. ALLAN ADALE fell at the fifth brush. ROYAL DAZZLER, racing well out from the inner rail the entire trip, took command approaching the stretch and, responding to urgingretained a safe margin to the finish, then worked out to one and one-eighth miles in 1:51%. EASY PREY saved ground and closeddeterminedly but was not good enough for the winner. NORTH POLE II., away sluggishly, saved ground while improving his position to the stretch but failed to respond for the drive. OURS gave a fair effort and had no excuse. WITHSTAND was never dangerous. MID ERIN tired after showing early speed. ALHAMBRA CIRCLE took an early lead and set the pace until challenged by ROYAL DAZZLER and "then gave way. MINCE PIE raced nearest GOLDEN EAST from the start, was bothered during the drive by the riderless BESOMER and could not reach the winner. MISTY FLIGHT, bumped by the riderless BESOMER entering the stretch, raced well when clear, but was unable to threaten the leaders. WING JET raced evenly for a half mile and then closed determinedly under brisk handling. SNOW FIGHT had no mishap. HANDSHAKE tired. WRITER lacked early foot and could not enter serious contention. TAROT lacked early speed but passed tired horses during the stretch run. WILLING MISS weakened after showing early speed. SCARLET SLIPPER began slowly and raced wide. LADY OF"FASHION, away alertly, dropped out of serious contention immediately after the start. AIRSTREAM made the pace to the stretch but gave way when challenged by SIESTA, MERVEILLEUX, a programmed entrant, WAS INJURED WHILE AT THE POST AND WAS ORDERED WITHDRAWN FROM THE RACE.
