Toro In Brilliant Trium ANOTHER BIG CROWD Sees E B McLeans Star Win R M Sweitzer Handicap Galahad Finishes Second And AndLady Lady Broadcast Third Brown BrownWisdom Wisdom Is Dismal Failure HOMEWOOD III May 31 Toro sturdy longdistance running son of The Porter ridden by jockey Eddie Ambrose and racing in the popular cerise and gold colors of E B McLean ran a great race to win the Robert M Sweitzer Handicap at Washington Park this afternoon He scored his victory with remarkable ease and in doing so de ¬ feated one of the best handicap fields that has matched strides this year Galahad from the Reuter stable and an outsider in the wagering was second while Lady Broad ¬ cast the only filly to face the barrier fin ¬ ished in third place placeIt It was a thrilling contest Even when racing in fourth place on the back stretch it was apparent that Toro was the horse to beat and when he made his move there was no stopping him He caught the tiring lead ¬ ers with ease and saving ground in the stretch drew clear in the last furlong to win easily easilyTen Ten entered the starting gate to race the one mile and an eighth distance and sev ¬ eral acted badly Jean Valjean Blackwood and Lady Broadcast were the worst offenders The start came after four minutes of wait ¬ ing and Stars and Bars and Jean Valjean suffered by being away slowly Karl Eitel the Coughlin hope was the first to show in front but before a quarter had been raced he was joined by the heavily weighted Brown Wisdom and the pair raced down the back stretch like a team Martie Flynn was third and Toro fourth
