FIFTH FOR COLONEL WINN Continues at Riverside Park His HisVinning1 Vinning1 Streak Begun in inMeeting Meeting at Tulsa KANSAS CITY Mo May 31 Saturdays offering at Riverside Park was a wellfilled program of eight races and while the attend ¬ ance was not quite up to the record crowd of Memorial Day the stands were well filled before the running of the first race A chilly breeze made it slightly uncomfortable but the keen racing provided overcame the discomforts of the weather weatherMrs Mrs E Tillers consistent gelding Colonel Winn continued his success when he won the second event in a driving finish from Mrs H Doughertys Blue Rose with Nondaga a scant half length behind Colonel Winn outran his field to the first turn where he saved much ground and opened up a good lead in the first half mile while Blue Rose was far back The winner turned into the stretch two lengths in the lead of Nondaga with Beatrice Morse third and Blue Rose moving up fast on the inside Colonel Winn started to tire in the last seventy yards and at the end was less than a length ahead of Blue Rose with Nondaga outgaming Beatrice Morse for third This marked the fifth con ¬ secutive win for Colonel Winn as he had previously won four in a row at the Tulsa meeting meetingJuarez Juarez from the stable of W H Askey accounted for the first race on the program when he lasted long enough to win by a half length from the fastfinishing Bye Bye Blackbird with John D finishing in front of the wellbacked favorite Seths Queen The winner was the quickest to get in motion and was rushed into a long lead in the first half mile which stood her in good need as she was tiring rapidly at the end Bye Bye Blackbird which raced to second place was probably the best as she was forced back going to the first turn and was forced to go wide coming into the stretch then fin ¬ ished fastest of all John D after follow ¬ ing the pace closest to the stretch tired badly Seths Queen the favored one after delaying the start ten minutes by her bad post behavior was prominent in the early stages but quit badly after going fiveeighths
