AGAWAM TURF NOTES . Mathias C. Shea departed Saturday afternoon for his home in Baltimore, Md., and joined the ranks of benedicts. Mr. Shea married Miss Bessie Buckley of Baltimore. Harry Morrissey, starter at Santa Anita and Narragansett Park, motored over from his home in North Attleboro, Mass., where he is resting up between the Narragansett meetings. Joe Nelson, chief assistant to Mr. Morrissey, accompanied him. Jockey C. Rosengarten returned from Rockingham Park to join the ranks gf the riders at this point. During the absence of Royal Roberts, the horses of the Branncastle Farm will be sad-died by trainer H. E. Brown. Tabulation of the "tote" handle for the first ten days of the present meeting shows that the handle has increased 6,000 over a similar period at the initial meeting last fall. The stalls at Agawam Park are rapidly filling to capacity limits with new arrivals coming in strong from Rockingham Park. M. J. "White sent seven head from there and W. J. Gallagher, operator of one of the largest stables in the East, also sent seven head to be handled by trainer W. H. Donovan. B. Bond arrived from Charles Town with nine horses. Latest additions to the jockey ranks are H. Chinn and F. Kenney. Miss A. Dorris has shipped Mathias from Rockingham Park and will send along the rest of her stable in a few days. Chester Young arrived with two head from New York. M. Smart brought in five horses from Suffolk Downs. D. Y. Elander, Jr., shipped four head from Rockingham Park.
