T AQUEDUCT TURF NOTES f j : William Koch, one of the clubhouse commissioners, was an absentee from the firing line Tuesday afternoon. The King Ranch will be represented in the Detroit Derby by Split Second, which will be shipped to that point by trainer Max Hirsch. The Wheatley Stable will ship Teufel to Detroit for the Derby, according to t.rainpr Fitzsimmons. J. N. Crofton of the Agua Caliente track was a clubhouse visitor and stated that he had heard indirectly that a movement would be started to resume racing at the Mexican resort. W. B. Miller, Greenwich, Conn., breeder, will ship to Jack McPherson two jumpers to train and race during the Saratoga meeting. Trainer R. A. Smith reported that the Brookmeade Stables Corundum will be on the shelf for a short time. The colt grabbed himself in the running of the Belmont. A change has been made in the distances of the turf races, which will be at one and three-sixteenth miles instead of one mile and an eighth, as advertised in the condition book. Closeness to the first turn is the reason that the distance was increased so as to allow horses a better opportunity of racing to the first turn. Clarence Buxton received six two-year-olds from the Audley farm in Virginia, which he will race for the balance of the summer. Dave Englander, noted jockey of twenty years ago, was among the visitors. He recently returned from France, where he rode and later trained with success, and some time this summer will leave for South. America, where he has business interests. -A
