MASKILLO rushed to contention early, bettered his position gradually, forged to the front inside the final eighth, stood a long drive and severe punishment gamely, then outfinished PECOS. The latter, outrun for three-eighths, moved up stoutly in the stretch and was going strongest in the closing stages. EQUANIMITY, never far back, held on with good courage in the drive. DARK FRIEND was hustled to the lead early, continued well to the final eighth, then tired. COUNTESS MARIO raced well for a half mile. DARK PRINCE finished resolutclv. WEAPON had early speed. MAJOR GREENOCK could not improve his position under strong riding. MR. MARVEL raced well to the final eighth, then tired. The others were outrun. FLIGHT OF GOLD, away in stride, set the early pace under mild reserve, but faltered when placed to punishment. KOLEY BEY, a strong factor most of the way, held on well in the drive.
