PRINCE R. improved his position steadily and was going well at the end. LE KARONGA was taken into the worst going in the stretch and tired. Won driving; second and third the same. QUINDARO improved his position steadily under hard urging and, wearing down MISS BALKO in the stretch, got to the front near the end. MISS BALKO rushed into a long lead soon after the start, was put to the whip while still far in front after entering the stretch and, racing in the worst going through the last eighth, could not last under such riding tactics. GEORGIA LILY, rushed into near exhaustion in the early stages and permitted to race through the worst part of the track in the stretch, had little chance to hold the winner. GRETNA B. closed ground steadily and was going well at the finish. IMELDA dropped back after breaking well, but came again in the stretch. COVELLA quit. ELANAC cut out a good pace in the going and held on well. EPINEL closed ground to finish well. DENVER LAD was never dangerous. MARY COT quit badly. SHASTA BANNER appeared to dislike the going. BOURBON PRINCE rushed into a long early lead, was permitted to race through the worst part of the track while still far in front and, kept on the rail when SERGEANT HILL challenged, had little chance to hold the latter.
