j HAWTHORNE TURF NOTES S : : ; -t-O The useful stable of R. C. Thatcher, trained by Cecil Howard, moves over to Ar- lington Park Saturday. Howard saddled four ; winners under the Thatcher colors here. The. stable consists of Skeeter, Cottingham, Royal Leon, Wilco and Teddy Haslam. Ross Higdon intends to add Animosity and Surprise Box to the division of his stable Jimmy Scurlock will race at Thistle Downs. At present Scurlock is at Riverside Park. Immediately following the close of Hawthorne Saturday, starter G. R. Wingfield and his assistants leave for Cleveland, where Wingfield will send the fields away during the Thistle Downs meeting, opening July 7. During the interim before the Cleveland opening Wingfield will direct schooling ses-sions.His work at Hawthorne has been up to. the .highest standard. The three-year-olds, - Auntie Peyton and Dock Beauchamp, owned by C. W. Hay, general manager at Hawthorne, will be included among the .near score horses G. .R. Brygon will have at Arlington Park. Auntie Peyton is a daughter of Sir Peter, while the other is a gelding son of Paicines. " Continuing a steady upward climb, that may land him among the best of the younger riders, Henry Hauer, Chicago boy, under contract to C. E. Davison, turned in a winner daily the past five days at Hawthorne. As at Hawthorne, Hauer should draw his share of riding assignments at Arlington Park. Unless he accepts an offer to ride for one of the larger stables campaigning here, Willie Moran will continue to free lance at Arlington Park. Jockey Jack Westrope arrived from New York and was a visitor at Hawthorne on Thursday. H. Lindberg, contract rider for the E. F. Seagram stable, is here on a short vacation. Slated for a lay-off, Let Her Play, Dandy Dancer, Gibbys Choice and Wise Eddie will not be included in the stable Mrs. E. Oro3 will race at Thistle Downs. They go to F. Meisengers farm near Naperville, 111. According to word received by racing secretary J. G. Reeder, apprentice C. Parke will arrive here from Detroit in time to accept mounts Friday. Parke is under contract to. B. Creech, who is shipping the horses of Mrs. A. M. Creech from Detroit to Arlington Park. , I Advised of the sudden death of his father in New York Thursday morning. Jack Hanover left immediately for that city. During his absence R. T. Watts will look after his stable. All of the horses Clyde Troutt has here are to be thrown out of training. Following a rest at the Troutt farm near Benton, 111, they will be prepared for racing at Lincoln Fields. 1
