C. V.WHITNEYS FUTURE PLANS Will Maintain Racing Stable ofl Twenty-Five Horses Each Year Yearlings to Be Sold. LEXINGTON, Ky., June 25. Maj. Louie A. Beard, manager of the Whitney familys thoroughbred interests, made the announcement today that C. V. Whitney has decided to maintain one racing stable of about twenty-five horses each year. "The replacements for that stable," continued Major Beard, "will be selected from yearlings, bred and developed by Mr. Whitney, and they will number about fifteen each year. The remainder will be sold at auction at Saratoga as yearlings. This is to be an annual program. "The replacements selected by Mr. Whitney for his racing stable will be chosen on blood lines with the idea that eventually they, in turn, will be used as replacements in the C. V. Whitney stud. Those to be sold, having a predominance of the blood of the Whitney stud, are certainly as good and, in some instances, better than those that will be kept this year. The situation will be the same in this respect in future years. The yearlings to be retained by Mr. Whitney each year will be about equally divided as to sex. "No culls will be sold at Saratoga. They can be honestly recommended and will be chosen before any of them are even saddled. "There will be no reserve prices on any yearlings offered." During this week the yearlings will be rearranged at the C. V. Whitney farm, and an inspection of all yearlings those to be retained as well as those to be sold on the farm by anyone interested will be welcome. Major Beard gave out the following as the list of twenty-four yearlings to be catalogued and sold under the auspices of the Fasig-Tipton Company at Saratoga on Tuesday, August 4, the opening day of the series of sales.
