ROMAN SOLDIER HEADS LIST Assigned 130 Pounds for Arlington Inaugural Handicap, Opening Feature Next Monday. ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, 111., June 25. Elwood Sachsenmaiers Roman Soldier ranks highly in handicapper Charles J. Mc-Lennans opinion for that official has assigned the four-year-old son of Cohort top weight of 130 pounds in the ,500 added Arlington Inaugural Handicap, the seven furlongs feature of the opening day program at Arlington Park on Monday, June 29. The coal black Cohort colt earned the respect of handicappers throughout the country in takiVig the Grade "A" Handicap at Pimlico, the Salvadore Handicap at Belmont Park, the Decoration Day and Granite State Handicaps at Rockingham Park for four straight victories. In his next race, the Rockingham Park Handicap on June 13, the doughty "Soldier" finished a courageous third under a heavy impost of 133 pounds. He is now in New York and Arlington Park officials have been notified that he will be shipped to the northwest side course Sunday. Hal Price Headleys equine giant, Whopper, is next in line in McLennans weights, being assigned 126 pounds after three races at Belmont Park wherein he finished third in the Tobaggon Handicap, second in the Metropolitan Mile and third in the historic Suburban Handicap. The Fighter, which won the Texas Derby for Mrs. Ethel V. Mars Milky Way Farms Stable, is rated best of the three-year-olds in the Inaugurals list of thirty-nine. The Bull Dog colt is asked to carry 118, two pounds " more than the Bomar Stables Billy Bee, winner of the Merry Ann Handicap at Detroit last Saturday. The added money in the Inaugural has been increased by ,000 to ,500 this year, and the seven furlongs distance has been restored after the race was run over three-quarters of a mile in 1934 and 1935. If ten start, as in the 1935 renewal, the stake will gross ,980 and figures to net the winner ,900. Mondays race will be the seventh running of the stake.
