JAY D quick to get going, opened up a safe lead immediately after the start and held GALE WAY safe in the final quarter. Thelatter forced the pace for most of the trip, responded well to vigorous handling, but was unable to menace the winner. HIP BOOTS improved his position gradually and closed strongly under hustling tactics. RUSTIC LASS gained steadily while racing on the outside and was going gamely in the closing stages. BOARD TRADE, away slowly, was cleverly handled in working his way up, came to the outside approaching the final quarter, drew into a good lead and held sway to the end. SCYTHE was unable to keep up in the early stages, gained rapidly in the last three-sixteenths and finished strongly. MORLEY FIRTH showed a good effort under hard riding after a slow beginning. KAI HARRI was unable to keep up in the early stages. SAYLOMA. never far out of it, was hemmed in on the rail all during the stretch run and showed a fine effort. AGREEABLE quit. The latter took command after straightening out in the stretch and held on tenaciously but could not withstand the winners challenge. STEPINANNA, hard hustled from the start, took the lead entering the back stretch, but tired after three-quarters. PROPOSING came from far out of it. RED ROD tired. SCHUIh had no mishaps.
