TROPICAL PARK WANTS TWO ADDITIONAL DAYS Will Open With Charity Program on December 14 if Racing Commission Grants Request. NEW YORK, N. Y., Oct 8. Tropical Park has applied for two additional days for it3 first meeting and if the Florida State Racing Commission grants the plea the season will be opened on December 14, announced managing director William V. Dwyer here today. Previous dates for Tropicals first meeting called for the opening on Wednesday, December 16, and Dwyer plans now to launch hi3 meeting on the Monday preceding that date. If the two additional days are granted by the commission one of them will be a charity day and the proceeds will be turned over to Dade County welfare organizations, declares Dwyer. The Florida commission is expected to meet within a few days and the Tropical Park application will be considered. Meanwhile, Dwyer will try to get away on a flying tripto Miami early next week to confer with general manager Frank D. Schuyler regarding the preparations for the opening of the Florida seasons first meeting, which runs until mid-January, when the continuity is taken up by HialeaK Park. The latter will run forty-six days, while Tropical Parks two meetings, opening and closing the season, will run fifty days if they are granted permission to run on December 14 and 15. Jimmy Loftus, publicity director at Tropical Park, will leave for Baltimore Friday and will spend two weeks in Maryland in the interests of the Gables track and the Florida season.
