WAR CHASE was steadied along back of the early pace established by TEMPTING WITCH, took coin mand when reaching the stretch and drew out steadily in the last three-sixteenths. TEMPTING WITCH raced to the front in the opening strides, drew away into a long lead, lost many lengths at the stretch turn and was unable to keep pace with the winner when challenged. ERNIE MANZER, under steady reserve early, finished with good energy, but was. unable to reach the first two. BEHIND ME, quickest to begin, lacked speed to keep pace with the early leader, was under slitht reserve and was unable to make up any ground under pressure. STEPPING IN, slow to begin, closed a big gap, but was unable to reach the leaders. JOHNS SON made up some ground. GREAT SHAKES tired. LEE GOLD was restrained within striking distance of the leaders for the first half mile, moved up on the outside when reaching the stretch and, wearing down the leaders, increased his advantage in the closing strides. QUEEN VIC, prominent all the way, fought it out gamely with MISS TAD for the lead, but was unable to withstand the closing challenge of the winner. MISS TAD had speed from the start and gained a slight lead, but was unable to maintain it through, to the final quarter mile under pressure. TWO EDGED, away well, lacked speed to keep up, dropped back, then came again in the final stretch run. HOOSIC MAID was well placed early, but tired in the drive. CHILLY EBBIE moved up threateningly at the far turn, then dropped back in the last three-eighths. CANCEL, kept within striking distance of the leaders early, responded willingly to urging, but was unable to reach the first two. AMQUI had speed from the start and was hard ridden, but was unable to. maintain her advantage through the stretch run. CONSERVATIVE, a forward factor all the way, was unable to keep up in the last quarter mile. SAY WHEN, roused several times to keep up in the run through the back stretch, continued in determined fashion to the end, but was unable to endanger the first two. ISADORE was well placed in the run through the back stretch and, on the inside, was eased back and sent to the outside, moved up, but was unable to make up any ground in the stretch. ADVANCING had speed from the beginning, wore down LEGIONARY for the lead and, though holding on gamely, was unable to cope with the closing challenges of the first two.
