TEXANS KILL AMENDMENT AUSTIN, Texas, June 17. The house of representatives yesterday voted to sustain acting speaker Mauritz in ruling out an amendment to the dog racing bill which would have outlawed bets of all kinds and at any place. The point sustained by the speaker just before he collapsed under the strain of trying to keep the house in order after receipt of the governors message yesterday was that the amendment went beyond the call of the governor for the special session. The effect is to limit the legislation to betting at dog tracks and on horse races.
