TRIO OF IMPORTANT RACES Aqueduct Schedules Brilliant Program for Fans Saturday. 0,000 Dwyer Stakes, ,500 Carter Handicap and ,500 Astoria Stakes Down for Decision. I NEW YORK, N. Y., June 17. A brilliant week-end of racing will be offered by the Queens County Jockey Club at Aqueduct Saturday when three important prizes will be decided on the flat as well as a special hurdie prize. Best of these specials is the Dwyer Stakes, for three-year-olds, of 0,000 added, a gallop of a mile and a furlong. The Carter Handicap is seven furlongs, for three-year-olds and upward, to which ,500 is added, and the Astoria Stakes, for juvenile fillies, a five furlongs dash of ,500 added value. The special for the hurdlers is the Cagliostro Handicap, and it has ,200 added. Any one of these would be a worthy feature on any racing program. The determination to reserve Brooklyn until August racing has removed one horse looked upon as a probable starter in the Dwyer, but there are enough good ones on hand to assure a good race, though some that might .have been seen under silks here were sent to Chicago to race in the American Derby at Washington Park. Mrs. Ethel V. Mars made no nominations for the Dwyer, and Dawn Play, winner of the Coaching Club American Oaks for R. J. Kleberg, which was sent from New York to run in the Chicago prize, was not eligible for the Dwyer, so that as far as those good ones are concerned the conflict makes no difference, but there are others that had both engagements. SCENESHEFTEB REGARDED BEST. Of the probable Dwyer starters it is still agreed that Maxwell Howards Sceneshifter is best and he will probably be accompanied by Fencing. Both of these colts disappointed in the Shevlin, when William H Gallaghers Rudie was winner, but the mile and a furlong will suit Sceneshifter much better than the mile of the Shevlin, and Fencing, though his race was unaccountably dull last Saturday, may prove of some help to the son of Sickle and Stage Craft. It is expected that Rudie will be sent out again after his Shevlin victory, for he never was better, and even though a mile and a furlong is a big contract for him he is an improving colt. Merry Maker has been working well for the Dwyer, and it is likely that Black Look will be the choice to bear the C. V. Whitney silks. Many of those in the Carter are also engaged in the 0,000 Brooklyn Handicap, to be decided a week from Saturday, and this seven furlongs dash is to some extent a trial for the sterner test. Three of the-top weights that have been training well are Seabiscuit, Aneroid, winner of the Suburban, and Top Row, which has been away from the races for a considerable time. HIGH FLEET FIT. Each one of these is .fit and ready for the seven furlongs and they may be sent to the post. Cycle, the sprinter from the Howe Stable, never was better and he will doubtless be- a starter, and the recent winning effort of George D. Wideners High Fleet pronounced her fit. Jean Bart has been working well, and John Simonettis Sgt. Byrne is expected to go to the post. Among the fillies in the Astoria that should make the filly stake running an excellent renewal are Catalysis, from the Starmount Stable;, Willis Sharpe Kilmers Sun Flo, A. G. Vanderbilts unbeaten Balking, Mrs. George D. Wideners Early Evening, the Wheatley Stables Magicienne, A. H. Watermans Miyako, Greentree Stables Lourdes, and Mrs. Walter M. Jeffords Soigne. It is probable that the Astoria field will be recruited from these.
