i TEXAS TRACKS DENIED DATES Commission Refuses to Sanction Meetings Before Repeal Becomes Effective No Funds on Hand. AUSTIN, Texas, June 17. The Texas Racing Commission today denied the applications of the four major tracks in this state for dates to conduct meetings in August and September, before the recently enacted law repealing mutuel betting goes into effect. The commission gave as its reason for refusing the. applications the lack of funds with which to supervise a meeting lasting beyond August 31. "Since we cannot pay inspectors and supervisors to represent the state and the commission, we do not feel that we should allow a track to operate," was the commissions statement, in part. Arlington Downs asked for dates from August 12 to September 18; Epsom Downs, from August 28 to September 25,, and Dallas Fair Park, from September 4 to September i25- " . "
