I PLAN NEW TRACK IN LOUIS-1 j IANA NEAR TEXAS BORDER 1 i BEAUMONT, Texas, June 21. Walter M. Casey, managing director of the Crosby Hotel here, today announced plans for the building of a race track in Louisiana, a few miles from Orange, Texas, and only a short distance from Beaumont. He said he would confer in a few days with directors of Epsom Downs, the Houston, Texas track, regarding the removal of the Epsom Downs grandstand and other fixtures. It is said W. A. Quigley of San Diego, Cal., will be asked to take charge of the new track when it is built. Such a location would be accessible to patrons residing in Beaumont, Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Shreveport and several smaller Texas and Louisiana cities, and it is proposed to interest businessmen in those cities in the formation of a syndicate with sufficient funds to build and maintain a first-class track for spring and fall meetings. The distance of the proposed site from Houston is about 110 miles.
